Sustainable Tourism
The Collingwood Music Festival has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, to demonstrate our commitment to improving the sustainability performance of our business between now and 2030.
The UN World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities.”
Each year, we commit to measuring and improving our sustainability performance in the following ways:
- Reducing waste and promoting recycling at all event venues, including compostable serviceware and encouraging attendees to bring their own water bottles.
- Offering vegan, vegetarian, and locally sourced food options at festival events to support sustainable agriculture and reduce our environmental footprint.
- Offer locally & organically grown flowers to our artists
- Minimizing paper use by prioritizing digital communications, programs, and ticketing systems.
- Encouraging active and shared transportation by promoting cycling and walking options to attendees.
- Assessing our environmental impact annually using the Sustainable Tourism 2030 self-assessment and setting measurable goals for improvement.
- Continuing to stay informed about new sustainability developments and adjusting our practices where possible to align with best practices and evolving standards.
