As we have just officially entered Step 1 of Ontario’s “Roadmap to Reopen” plan, we are happy to extend our early-bird rates all the way to Canada Day – July 1st, giving you more time to decide upon how you would like to join us this summer. Remember, you can join us both virtually from your living room or at the drive-in, via a 900 square-foot screen!
Reminder: All tickets must be purchased prior to each performance. We will not have any box office facilities available at the entry gate. Tickets can be easily purchased online at collingwoodfestival.com or by phone at (705) 300-2405.
We are excited to announce another FOUR events for the month of June.
Presenting the SUMMER SOLSTICE SERIES!
These four virtual events are designed to celebrate the summer solstice, also known as the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the rejuvenating start of a new season. Our Artistic Director performs two solo piano recitals and invites two very special guests to join him on an unforgettable musical journey – the distinguished musicologist, Dr. Alan Walker and renowned Canadian stage actor, R.H. Thomson.
On May 19th, we hosted a season preview featuring three of our summer festival artists. Here is a replay of this special event starring:
Jaden Benabdeslam, a talented 12-year old local pianist, who performed her first live concert since the start of the pandemic.
Mayumi Seiler, the Japanese-German violin virtuoso, whose musical dog couldn’t stop singing along to the enchanting sounds of her 1684 ‘Croall’ Stradivarius.
Dr. Duke Redbird, an Indigenous intellectual, poet, painter, broadcaster, filmmaker and keynote speaker, who shared his inspiring story as the visionary behind Collingwood’s Awen’ Gathering Place.
Here’s a replay of this spectacular event, in case you missed it!
2021 Summer Music Festival Teaser Video
We know how precious your time is! Here is a quick 4 minute teaser video that captures some of the excitement that lies ahead this summer:
We are excited to announce a new, drive-in experience for this summer.
Get ready for live music events larger than life….literally!
All our evening concerts will be projected LIVE onto a massive 40-ft wide, 3-storeys high outdoor screen positioned at New Life Church’s spacious parking lot – accommodating up to 200 cars in one evening!
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
We’ve shifted all concert start times to 8:30pm, since the projector works best after sundown.
Each drive-in ticket also comes with a complimentary virtual pass, giving you access to our digital archive following each event.
We’re extending the early-bird rates for all tickets to June 14!
Hear is what our Artistic Director, Daniel Vnukowski has to say:
“We’re very excited about the new drive-in concept for this summer. We greatly support the Unison Benevolent Fund’s cause to support those artists currently facing extreme hardships as a result of the pandemic and want this summer to be an unforgettable experience for anyone who attends. The screen size is literally larger than life at 3-storeys high and the sound quality is crystal-clear with high-fidelity stereo.”
We’ll be reaching out to everyone who already purchased a digital ticket with the opportunity to upgrade to a drive-in ticket.
Join our Artistic Director on Wednesday, April 21 for a free livestream to celebrate the strength and resilience of Collingwood’s arts scene.
Daniel Vnukowski performs the music of Tchaikovsky and invites four special guests – Claudia Ferraro, Geoffrey James, Tjalling Halbertsma and Anke Lex, to join him on a fun-filled evening of music-making, poetry, painting, sculpting and photography – including a rare look at the artists’ studios from behind the scenes!
The Collingwood Summer Music Festival has been awarded a grant by the Canada Heritage Fund, whose objective is to give Canadians access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities.
We proudly acknowledge that our 2021 summer festival activities have been funded in part by the Government of Canada.
The Collingwood Summer Music Festival is very grateful to be a recipient of a $5000 grant from the Town of Collingwood to support its 2021 virtual festival programming.
BREAKING NEWS!
The Collingwood Summer Music Festival has just been awarded a grant by the Ontario Arts Council, becoming our sixth major partner for the 2021 season.
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is a publicly funded agency of Ontario’s Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. The OAC’s primary purpose is to award grants to professional artists and arts organizations.
The following stipulations have been put in place in order to ensure everyone’s safety during the 2021 Festival season:
All festival participants are required to register and provide contact tracing data prior to entering the building.
The festival board continues to meet virtually via ZOOM until further notice.
Each event is administered by a COVID-19 health representative who prepares a detailed, safety plan and establishes safe work zones prior to each performance/rehearsal.
The Festival is placing sanitizing stations at all entry-point locations within the church, including hand-held contactless thermometers, informative flyers and hand sanitizer.
Detailed instructions have been provided to our volunteers to ensure that all participants maintain a distance of at least two metres.
The Festival is also prepared to seek alternative outdoor venues, limit audience capacity accordingly or postpone the festival as required by public health authorities.
We're very grateful to the Rydlo Family Fund (a fund held within the Oakville Community Foundation) for coming on board as a major sponsor of the festival.
The funds allow us to continue expanding our youth activities at the Duntroon Highlands House for this summer and future years, inspiring our next generation to take up music lessons while providing them with unforgettable music experiences. The opportunity to mingle with professional artists can be a life-changing opportunity for a child, developing their confidence, individuality and ability to take-on the challenges of life.
“The Trout” is a timeless masterpiece by Franz Schubert about a fisherman’s latest catch. This stunning piece of music is brought to life in this dazzling performance of intimate chamber music starring the Rolston String Quartet. Get your tickets to our final concert today! ow.ly/ouuL50Js6yg
