The Bergmann Piano Duo – Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann – has captivated global audiences for over two decades with dynamic performances and uniquely eclectic programming. Their celebrated career has taken them to prestigious stages across North America, Europe, and Asia, including recitals and orchestral collaborations in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and China. They are frequent guests at renowned festivals such as the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, and the Banff Arts Festival.
Their extensive discography, featured on labels like Naxos and Brilliant Classics, includes Marcel’s innovative arrangements of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells and the acclaimed American Stories. Beyond performing, the Bergmanns are influential arts leaders, serving as Artistic Directors of White Rock Concerts. Their academic contributions include faculty positions at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary, alongside award-winning work with the Land’s End Chamber Ensemble.
Trained in Hannover and Montréal, the duo’s foundation is built on technical brilliance and a commitment to expanding the keyboard repertoire. As laureates of the Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition, they have commissioned and premiered numerous works by Canadian composers. Spanning from the Baroque to the contemporary, their performances seamlessly blend tradition with Marcel’s virtuosic original compositions, ensuring every concert is a sophisticated and transformative musical experience.
